Vernell Powell, winner with 750 correctly spelled words; other Stewartsville HS contestants were Floyd Thornton, Emma Stevenson, Vineta Castle and Louise Bauer.

Honor Roll, second quarter
Freshmen: Dorothy Kibby, Joyce DeVall (both exempt from quarterly exams). Sophomores: Louis Bauer, Carl Everett. Juniors: Edith Ehlers, Vernell Christy. Seniors: Della Maude Kagay.

Freshmen Sponsor: Miss Dickey, aka Mrs John Maupin, taught English and Music Appreciation.  On her marriage and move to Chicago, Illinois, her replacement was Mr. A. M. Decker.

Ira Hoffman, Freshman, dropped out of school January 1929.

Gladys Warren, formerly at Union Star, joined the Sophomore class.

Kathrine Jones, Angelyn Saunders and Lorna Parr earned "special mention" for their roles in "basket ball plays" and are stars in "Bits of Blarney," an Irish operetta which is being prepared.
