Clinton County is located in northwestern Missouri and was created January 2, 1833 from Clay County. Until 1841, Clinton County probably included some "uncountified" territory lands. The County Seat is Plattsburg, MO.
During the Civil War, men often enlisted in a company recruited from the county in which they lived.
